Curry making

This week in 2HS we have been learning how to make curry. We tasted different types and decided to make a tomato curry. We used skill such as chopping, grating, peeling and stirring to make our curry. There was only one thing left to do and that was taste it. It was delicious.

During art this week we have been using Van Gogh’s ‘Starry Night’ picture as inspiration.  We used this to help us draw an create our backgrounds. We then used dark coloured paper to create a silhouette of scenes from The a Christmas story. What do you think?

Rangoli Patterns

As part of Kolkata learning we have been learning about Rangoli Latterns. We used wax crayons to create our own patterns thinking carefully about the shapes and colours we used. When we had completed our patterns we did a water colour wash over the top. What do you think?

Anti Bullying week

We looked carefully at what bulling is this week.  We also learnt that even though we are all different we are all equal. We made jigsaw pieces for ourselves and put them together as a class. We noticed how we were all very different but if you took one of our pieces away we would not be 2HS.

The Little Mermaid

This week we have been working in the art studio with Mrs Johnston.  We have been looking at the story of The Little Mermaid.  We have been generating vocabulary to describe characters and settings and putting these in our story.  We have also completed amazing observational drawings of fish and shells using lots of different techniques and water colours to add colour to the pictures. Miss Alison has even been in to help us with our dancing.  We cannot wait for more fun next week!

Bridge building

This week we have been helping Eric cross the River Aire. We had a first attempt at a bridge and evaluated how these worked out and how effective the joining methods were. The we worked in teams to design and build bridges using saws, glue guns and wood to make sure they were sturdy and secure. What do you think?
